Marcus Troy x Nike Bespoke Air Force 1 from Marcus Troy on Vimeo.

I'm no sneakerhead, far from it actually..but this shit is just dope. plain and simple. I'm sure it means so much more when you have an idea of what has been made before or just having unique taste, but I was always a fan of NikeID, and this is like that shit on crack and steroids.

The homie J.D. made himself a pair which you can see on the right, which are also pretty dope. But they come at a pretty expensive price...which, if you have the money, is definitely worth every penny. How many people can say they have a personally customized, 1 of 1, Air Force sneaker. Yeah...exactly.

Until next time...

Intro to Wish These Were My Beats Vol. 1....

0

Lemme be real with ya'll. I'm lacking in a major area of being an emcee, freestyling. I can do it, but I'm wack at it. So when the Em Dub (the guy interviewing me) had asked me to kick something, i felt like i used to feel when the teacher would call on me to present my chapter to the class, and i wasn't all the way prepared, so I kinna winged it. Naw, I bullshitted my way thru many a presentations in my younger days. Anyways, this is actually my intro to my mixtape that's coming out soon...what do you think?

Until next time...

Looking back on 09' and movin' to 10'

2

So, 2010 is here. Didn't really do the "best of 09' " posts because....shit, i was lazy an didn't feel like it. But here's an old post of mines that i did right around this time so that in a year's time (right now), i could look back and see the progress and help motivate me to keep pushing. Let's check it out:

I'm sitting here fustrated, because my daughter keeps trying to make barbie do the splits, and keeps popping barbies leg outta the damn socket, when a thought occured to me; How many people will be into my music come next year? Will I gain any more listeners/fans/supporters of my music? So this blog is simply for reflection purposes next year at this time, to be a reminding of how far i've gone and/or how far I need to go.

2009 Year in Review:

So, right off the top, I don’t even use Myspace like that anymore, and facebook I be slacking on..so those goals are sorta null and void..but I checked anyway.

Not bad I guess…but ehh, whatever. Now, for the people following the blog, it went from 1 to 27, which is pretty dope. It also has 3353 unique views, so I’m hoping to atleast double that by 2011. As far as twitter, that is where the most progress (atleast in terms of numbers) that I’ve seen this year. It went from 51 to 954. Whooo! Haha, but truthfully, I’m sure more than half of those are bots and bullshit twitter accounts so I take it lightly. Next year…1500…? With the live shows, I did not do what I was suppose to do, but partly because I didn’t feel ready. I wasn’t ready…I’m still not where I need to be, but at this point, I have to get out there and learn as I go. No more time to waste.

So my goal this year is to perform live atleast 12 times. That is only once a month, so really, that should be do-able, especially with open mics and such available. The hard part is forcing myself to get out there. And finally, the 3 music projects. Well, when I wrote that, I thought that it was much easier to complete projects. I quickly found out that it’s not as simple as it sounds. I completed one, and have a mixtape that I’ve finished writing and just need to record, so I’d say I have 1.5 done. But in school terms, 50% is an F. So I must step it up this year. My goal is to put out the mixtape by March, and then the original EP album before the end of the year. Much more realistic now that I have a few connections here and there.

The one project that I did put out, Forever Be Hip-Hop, has been doing great. It was received well from pretty much everyone that checked it out. And I’m not scared an fronting on the critiques either, I asked people, what is wrong with it, what could have been better, and the general consensus is that it is just a dope project. So I can’t really be mad at that. Just have to make sure I come correct with everything moving forward.

This year, I also want to travel and perform once in a different state. My wishlist is to go to Chicago, Miami, New York, Atlanta, and D.C. Now it would be real dope if I could make one of those trips happen..but my $ dictates things like that, and it’s not looking too good. Hopefully something changes though. And my one true constant goal is to keep pushing with this music to a point where hopefully I can do it full time, and live off the music, but until then, this 9-5 will have to due. Not much else to say…I’ll check this post next year to see the progress I’ve made.

Until next time...

Quick Clif Soulo music update...

0
Maybe about a month or two ago, I was tellin myself to get back on my shit with the music. And for whatever reason, a light switch hit and I got a hot streak with the lyrics. I got to work on my blackberry, looked up and I had 6 songs done. Kept at it, and now I have a good 12-14 tracks ready to go, plus some skits lined up! I knew I wanted features on the mixtape, but I wanted to get them from cats all over the country. I don't wanna give out the names of who just yet, but I can say I have features from cats in California, Texas, Minnesota, the DMV, Florida, and Chicago. I'm trying to lock down one or two more, but I'm damn near done with tha writing portion of the tape.

I also have been making some moves, so the recording of the tape shouldnt be as difficult as it was for the common album project. And as I'm sitting on this bart train, I'm re-thinking if I wanna even call it a mixtape. Because it isn't a tape, if anything, it should be called a mixp3..but that seems corny haha. I also been thinking about the changing the title. The only name I came up with was "I wish these were my beats Vol.1". I like it, but I'm wondering if I should be more creative. Also because I'm contemplating putting some original production music on there as well..I can't call it. But I do know that I'm liking a lot of the songs. Can't wait to get it all recorded and pick the final 12 or 13 songs to make the cut. Time will tell, but I can't wait for yall to hear it.

Until next time...

Artists I like: BJ the Chicago Kid

0
I don't know if I told ya'll or not, but R&B is my favorite type of music. I mean, Rap is dope, but I can't wake up to rap ya feel me. With that being said, I always look out for new up and coming cats, and one of them is this cat BJ the Chicago Kid. I forgot how I first heard of him, but I know after hearing Truly Yours wit Diz Gibran, I was instantly sold. Crazy part is, I had been searching for his mixtape for hella long, but all the links i kept finding were dead. Thankfully someone re-upped one of his tapes, so I been jammin' that too. Check his music out below:

I put this clip on here because it shows how talented cuzzo is. came up with some dope shit on the fly...much respect.

Until next time...
